Royal Bee Luxuries

The Royal Bee Luxuries company was started by the Greenwood Family in 2014.  The Greenwood’s are a family of four comprised of Richard “Rich” Greenwood, his wife Brenhda “Bren”, daughter Brihdet “Bri” and son Andru.  Bri had the initial business concept because she wanted to make extra money by providing a Louisiana-based gift shop filled with luxuries from around the world in one convenient on-line place.  Because of the strong Celtic French heritage on both sides of the family - they came up with the name Royal Bee.

Initially, the on-line shop dealt with mainly gift boxes filled with rich artisanal chocolates made from the famous Criollo chocolate bean, and luxurious facial oils: Baobab Oil, Maracuja Oil; Marula and Squalane Oil. Rich made the wooden gift boxes out of recycled wood, Bri, Andru and Bren painted them in playful Alice in Wonderland colorful designs and handmade the beeswax candles.  Royal Bee Luxuries met with some success, but in early 2015 a new concept naturally emerged - custom designed furniture.  Clients started getting creative and asked them to make what they wanted. Pretty soon, Famous French cooks started designing veggie keepers and spice racks for their personal kitchens. That took off like a rocket! About the same time, another concept arose - Royal Bee Bakery. Andru was filming on the set of Pitch Perfect 2 when he discovered that the local filming studio needed a bakery truck to supply film crews and actors with delicious food on site.  Hollywood South was growing, and the family decided to give it a go - naming their second new business - Royal Bee Bakery. Just goes to show what can happen when you're daring enough to "go for it" and tough enough to sweat like a pig in the steamy Louisiana heat!

Mamaw's Famous Sweet Iced Tea

Mamaw's Famous Sweet Iced Tea

What I remember most about my Mamaw Collins was that she could cook just about anything! I don't recall a time when that sweet lady didn't have something cooking. Her home in Coy, Alabama always smelt of good ole southern comfort food like collards, cornbread, fried chicken - you name it - she cooked it! Now, besides cooking Mamaw had a magical gift when it came to making sweet ice tea. Some members of our family argued that her ice tea had a spell over it because something this addictive couldn't be natural. Others would swear the recipe had been passed down by a secret society that obviously our family ancestor had somehow obtained. Regardless, of the origins of Mamaw's Famous Sweet Iced Tea recipe - no one was ever lucky enough to get her to reveal her secret - well that was, 'til me.

You see Mamaw Collins & I spoke a similar language and that was a deep love for family & cooking. Even at a young age I would just sit in awe watching her in the kitchen. There was something so fluid & natural about her movements that almost resembled a ballet. She caught on quickly how intrigued I was with cooking & would get me to help her whenever she had a little job for little hands. The bond we created through cooking was one I'll never forget. She would share her techniques & even her well-coveted recipes that she kept under lock & key with me.  I knew better than ever to tell such treasured knowledge... I kept her handwritten recipes in a little box inside my closet. I've always been a sentimental kind of gal, one who keeps a thing I find to be sacred safely in a pretty little box. After Mamaw had passed away, I would find myself in the kitchen sometimes pretending she was right there with me still cooking.  And, in honor of her - our family respectfully offers her famous sweet iced tea.
